Other (Yoga/stretch) 20:00 [2]

Some video of a babe doing yoga for sore back/cyclists. Bob found this video. :|
10 AM

biking (MTB) 3:31:36 [3] 68.3 km (19.4 kph) +660m

Clarksburg, Loree (ditched my vest), Swiss Meadows via top of Blue, toodle around there, 3 stage via Scenic Caves. Quick rip through 3 stage, ate a gel, threw up a gel (bacon flavour is a terrible idea), got really hangry. Rode to Ravenna for a snack, wished I still had my vest and home via GR 2/Clarksburg.

Lovely ride but why so chilly??

biking (Road) 4:00:34 [3] 93.0 km (23.2 kph) +940m

Point to point - Thornbury to Albionish

Flat on 89 and airport Rd and no tube. Luckily I got picked up 30ish km shy of Albion.

Rode via: Ravenna, Kolapore, Feversham, Singhampton, Creemore and from Creemore 9 to Airport Rd. Bob was not a fan of my route choices but I didn't have to refer to a map nearly as much this way and traffic wasn't terrible.

Lots of wind, hills and small rain showers. Cold. I stopped for a coffee and tea biscuit in Creemore and secretly wanted to stay there all evening.

Weird waves coming in inconsistent directions. Bailed 3 times. I managed to get back in but used my entire weeks worth of strength to do so.

I bet Bob I could ride to Kimberly and back in less than 2 hours and I lost.

Started with 33 Sideroad to avoid climbing 7 but that didn't really work in my favor...

trail run 2:57:00 [3] 25.0 km (7:05 / km)

Hockley Loop - well, kind of.

With DD11 and just as we approached the road after the last of the 3 climbs I looked at Chris and something was up. He lost his phone on the trail. Yikes! Back we went.

The good news - we eventually found it <10km from the car. The bad news - it had been run over. What are the odds?!

Nothing a pint of beer and lunch couldn't fix!

Happy to see DD11 running as well as ever post CT and injury.

Adventure Race (BPMR) 8:43:00 [5] 105.0 km (4:59 / km)

Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race - what a treat to spend the day on some of the most beautiful terrain ever! 16km paddle, 38km bike, 16km run, 30km bike, and a fast 5km run into the finish. At registration there was mention of a 'bonus advanced biking section.' Of course, I panicked.

After last minute sorting and then checking in, I phoned Bob and told him about the advanced section. I asked him if I should do it? Bob - "are you racing it?" Me - "yes" Bob: "well then you have your answer." It was like I asked him if I should wear clothes to the race. I felt silly.

I worked up the courage to paddle the surfski (I didn't really have a choice since it's the only boat we own!). The paddle was lovely, I stayed comfortably in the middle of the pack. Fine with me, so long as I didn't tip. It was a pretty uneventful paddle other than the fact that I got pretty cold in the rain. Cold enough that I questioned not packing a jacket. Dropped the boat and did a very quick < 4 minute TA in order to ensure I didn't get too cold.

The first bike was a mix of fast roads and amazing scenes on the awesome and super slick single track. In the end, I was happy to make the advanced biking section because the scenes were so pretty! I got very lucky in here because I passed a lot of people with flats (I was always offering help that I really couldn't follow through with). How I didn't get a flat is forever a miracle. Back onto some ATV trails and onto the run.

A bit of an upset tummy on this run but again, the scenery was too pretty and the single track so fun, that you couldn't be grumpy if you tried. I especially loved running along the shore looking up to the grotto. The technical challenge of this added a fun element to the race.

Back on the bike basically praying that I don't get a flat tire because although I had a tube...I didn't have tire levers. Oh and my rear suspension wasn't holding air so it was a weird ride.

Final TA and I was told that I was first female. What a cool feeling! I decided to keep pushing into the finish just in case. Very cool section of the BT including some suuuuper sketchy winding stairs which apparently passed their recent audit.

Pretty awesome day and always fun to push to those limits. So happy to have funderstorm there to share in the excitement - she makes me feel like a star and is so helpful when I'm super dumb at the finish line. Great post race vibe - we sat on the grass in the sunshine after tasty food and a radler. Well done, Explore the Bruce!

Paddle 59:32 [2]

Goose, Bash, CoachID and I had a lovely day on the Beaver River.

Great conversations with Goose as we paddled together. Very grateful for all that I learned in that short time together - he is a paddling extraordinaire!

Ended the paddle with butter tarts.. or should I say, started the run with butter tarts?

trail run 1:05:00 [3]

Stuck with what I knew and took the gang up Old Mail Road to connect with the BT and then a pretty little side trail that connected us back to the cars via Sideroad 22.

Happy to play tour guide for the day and not sure what I was so nervous for?!

Sorry about missing the skirt memo - I could have totally rocked the denim today.

trail run 2:08:00 [3]

Quick visit to Manitoulin for family and fireworks so naturally, a Lion's Head loop was in order - started at McCurdy Drive. Plan wasn't to run the full loop but I took a wrong turn and ended up down Cemetary Road. Not the worst thing that could happen since weather was perfect! Detoured along Warder and Ilse Hanel side trails and eventually to the look out. Suuuuper slick but I got away with one! Total distance was somewhere between 16-18.5km

Paddle 2:24:00 [2]

Sunshine Alley near Whitefish Falls. My uncle had 2 sea kayaks so I went out with him. Always wanted to check out Dreamer's Rock...so mythical and beautiful.

Very balmy on the water and we're getting some crazy t-storms on the island - hoping the girls in Killarney are toughing out the harsh conditions!
