northern night champs
conditions weren't exactly ideal, really hard to see anything with snow blowing into your face and headtorch lights up the snow so you can actually see more with the torch turned off, only problem then is its a bit dark... only good thing about the snow was finding the badly taped way to the start by following the footprints ;)
for most of the course I used paths as much as possible instead of going straight and I took it slow but I still managed to make quite a few mistakes. I overshot number 2, then overshot number 3 and none of the contour detail seemed to make sense, saw dane and jake there and they seemed pretty confused too, then to 13 I decided to go straight which was a bad idea, I ended up on the wrong path and I thought I knew which path I was on but not sure how far along it so after a bit of panicking I ran up the path to a junction with a big track and pace counted back the way I came to find the small path I wanted, happy I managed to relocate but lost 7 minutes and then I messed up 14 as well, turns out I was actually in the right place but was a couple of metres to the right of the control and hadn't seen it so I'm putting this one purely down to the extremely low visibility.
really didn't enjoy it, mostly because of the snow but I guess it was a good experience and it could have been a lot worse...
