Orienteering race 14:36 [5] 2.7 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Nike LunarEclipse
Part 1 of Scottish Sprint Champs. Went well, keeping on top of things and making sure I avoided dead ends etc and being really careful to check sides of things too. Planning ahead was ok but much harder in a sprint when you're thinking fast and running hard!
(Totally forgot to start my watch oops!)
Orienteering race 16:17 [5] 2.8 km (5:49 / km)

Part 2 Scottish Sprint Championships. Again went well would say it even went better. Was really on top of the navigation and felt I was running well considering I've just been ill!
Really enjoyed it.
However: I decided to disqualify myself after i realised that I had crossed through an area of OOB (on a well trodden path along the side of a building, clearly not made just by orienteers). The map didn't really match the ground that well, and I got confused. I didn't even realise I'd done it until it was pointed out to me after the race by someone else who has also disqualified themselves. Crossing the OOB didn't even gain me much, if any, time and it would have been really easy to go round but I just hadn't realised (and i'm one of those people who always checks really carefully!) I know the planner/controller had problems with this area and had had to mark it as OOB late on because of the gardeners, but I kind of think if it was that important to keep off it, maybe it should have been taped?!
The thing that annoys me the most though, is that I was not alone in doing this, not at all, I ran through there at the same time as many others and yet less than 10 people (so far) have disqualified themselves and I just don't think it's fair.
Ok sorry for that, rant over, i'm just a bit frustrated!
Note
(sick)
Feeling much better, just a teeny bit coldy still, so i'm happy that i'm almost better!
Ok got much worse as the afternoon/evening wore on, losing my voice...
