Head cold with mild, then painful sore throat starting on the right side and moving to the left/center.
Day 1 (7/31): noticed sore throat around 2-3 AM; runniness and sneezes increasing throughout the day.
Day 2 (8/1): uncomfortable during sleep, but managed to sleep in until 11:30. Throat very sore in the morning, with cough productive of yellow mucus. Neck and back aches increasing somewhat throughout day. Congestion somewhat dry and sticky by evening, but with occasional itchiness/runniness.
