R Foot, Plantar Fasciitis

2010-01-13 – ?

Grade: 1

First felt plantar fascia of right foot while finishing up an hour of upper body resistance workouts. I think it happened due to the horrible condition (and lack of cushioning) of the old Adidas shoes I wear on off days from running. I had finished a 17K run the day before, so the tendon may have been in process of repairing itself, making it vulnerable to injury. Also, Monday in the pool I had a really tight cramp on the inside of my right arch and I just swam through it, so that may have also contributed.

I'm treating it by taking a week off of my regular exercise routine and focusing on yoga to help stretch the repairing tissue. I'm also using treatments suggested to me such as rolling a frozen bottle on my arch, reducing the time I walk around barefoot, and wearing running shoes most of the time.
