After completing the marathon I felt a slight tension in my left knee overnight it became more and more painful. Walking is now painful, especially after resting for too long.
I'm not sure when I picked up the injury but I did have numerous falls. It was probably a fall on the final descent, the last 1km!
I won't say I am 100% recovered as there is some residual stiffness at times and some occasional pain when bending the knee too far. However, it is much, much better.
Lessons learned: get better at XC skiing downhil!!
