Knee, Iliotibial Band Syndrome

2009-10-13 – ?

Grade: 2

Been dealing with since Oct2008. From everything I have read, its ITB. Pain in the front/side of knee... starts about 1.5 miles into the run. Progresses through the run to the point of not wanting to continue.

It responds very well to Ibuprofen and takes about 36-48 hours to go away totally after a 60 minute run.

Treadmill interval workouts do not result in knee pain.

I took 2 months off of running in mid winter, began focusing strength training on hips and legs. Began IT Band stretches as well.

Months later, still not resolved. What else should I be doing? Its not bad enough to stop me from running, but it keeps be from running more than 6 or 7 miles.

Anyone have ideas of other things I should be doing to resolve this for good?
