L Foot, Ankle Sprain

2008-09-09 – 2008-12-15

Grade: 3

I slipped on a steep slope while at Salmon La Sac on the evening of September 9, and my left foot regained traction suddenly, causing my foot to bend upward and outward (laterally), the opposite direction than in a usual ankle sprain. It immediately hurt a fair amount on the front outside of the upper ankle, but the medial side of the achilles area hurt also. After resting for a few moments, I walk-jogged back to the car then went to the Cooper River and dipped my foot and ankle for about 8 minutes before compressing it by wrapping it with a Buff and a towel for the ride home. I got the first dose of ibuprofen nearly an hour after the injury.

This injury bothered me for a long time, then around December, it stopped hurting very often. As of March 2009, it still hurts when I jam my heel down, forcing my toe to point, but otherwise it seems fine.
