Bummer. What was cause? I was running easily (Dog Days Sat morning group) on grass, then downhill was steeper by the West Campus pond. Felt the pain, did not snap, but could not run anymore. No pain walking unless I stretched the wrong way. Similar pull about 14 years ago. Last hamstring pull: July 12, 2003. Iced & aspirin.
June 6, 06 - Anniversary of D-Day. Iced hamstring after attempting to do Dog Days jogging. Bad idea. Mild pain after I started jogging again. Simply stop and wait to recover. Will take a long time.
May 27 - doing one stretching exercise - straight leg out on dining table, 20-25 sec, then alternate - 3X. Absolutely no flexibility - my back is barely straight and not an inch of lean forward. . . Still unable to run, but can bike.
July 11 - ran easy at Dog Days this afternoon and hamstring survived. Did not push it running down hill.
Continue to do stretching before any run.
