Sick, Cold

2007-06-18 – 2007-07-22

Grade: 2

Initially a mild cold. A bit stuffed up and an occasional cough. Not bad enough to keep me away from work, but not good enough to keep training un-interrupted.
After a week, a deep chest cough remained. This restricted me from any hard training, and interrupted my preparation for the JWOC carnival.
I ran the NSW Champs, but had trouble breathing deeply after about 20 minutes and finished quite poorly.
Skipped the Dubbo Dash race.
Tried the Western Plains Challenge 1 on 10/7, but pulled out after 6km. OK at start, but struggled at end. The cough was still no better.
I saw a doctor and got some antibiotics to help the cough.
This seemed to help with breathing, and cleared up the flemmy cough a bit.
The middle distance on 12/7 was ok, but I had no speed.
I ran the Australian Long Distance Champs on 14/7, but couldn't run fast enough. The legs felt ok, but my breathing was still restricted.
The relay was ok, but I still lacked speed.

Took longer than expected to recover. A week of no training and keeping out of the cold seemed to shake most of it.
