Grade: 4
Pain top inside right hamstring (near attachment) and lower outside right hamstring. Associated pulling pain into glute. Tightens up down leg and into calf, and sometimes whole hip/TFL just tightens up. Hip VERY clunky. Very uncomfortable even at rest, in particular sitting down or driving.
Ongoing since Feb 2012 and basically cant run on it at all, after 10 min its just very uncomfortable. Not sure if hamstring problem or hip problem, or something else...
MRI on lower back in June - ok. Waiting for consultant referral - end Aug. In meantime, no running :-(, okay biking and madly doing core/glute strengthening.
August 12 - confirmed right upper hamstring tendinopathy (on MRI), need to do eccentric strengthening, core work, activate glutes
Feb 13 - gradually been getting back into running, try very hard to build very slowly. LOTS of strength work in gym and LOTS core/stretching/activation work at home every day, and concentrating on form whilst running. Some good weeks, some not so good weeks, but in general a slow improvement. Symptoms at rest much improved.
Nov 2013 - can run up to an hour, but things still not perfect, Darent try to run fast or any further. Still doing strengthening and core work. Will it ever be right again?
