L Hip/Pelvis, Other

2011-11-29 – 2012-01-04

Grade: 3

Slipped on my commute to work. Pavement was a little wet but also covered with a super thin layer of "mud" from nearby construction.

Left me with a few small spots of road rash but one huge golf ball size lump on my left hip. Planning to go to the doctor to make sure all is ok but expecting to be sitting out for a week or more to let the swelling go down.

12/6 - Bruise is making good progress but there is still swelling. Blood has pooled in my hamstring area but is starting to disappear. I am almost walking normally but my extension and lateral range of motion is still very limited. I am still heating 4 or 5 times a day. I have started some strength exercises and light stretching to decrease recovery.

12/13 - Swelling is almost completely gone. Bruise is still spotty. I have more blood pooling down my leg, mostly behind my knee. This may delay my return a little. Walking is no longer affected and have regained almost all of my range of motion.

12/20 - Swelling and bruising almost non existent. Some of the muscles are still a little tight and tweaked. Should be stretching and heating more but as it feels better I have been getting lazy with it. Was really tempted to run as I took Monday off. Instead holding out for a short commute to work on Thursday. If that works I'll get some runs in hopefully over Christmas weekend and kick off the new year right!

12/26 - Pretty much healed. Can still feel some tightness above my butt. Should work its way out in the next week.

1/2 - I occasionally feel the muscle tight and not stretched but unless I feel some discomfort it is all good.
