UNO Camping Weekend: THE MEGA

levitin

1. Started just after Dave Dunham.
2. Major F-up. Realized during the leg that I mistook the (dry) heart-shaped lake for the depression I was looking for. Ick.
3. Still orienteering alone.

33. Another major walkabout. Fell down the hill, wound up on a trail alongside the marsh, but muddy head took a long time running up and down to relocate with confidence. Missed 33 going uphill (again), eventually reaching 32 for the 2nd time, where Heidi and Dasha were punching. Together with them until 183. Eventually found #34 within 15m of rock groups I had passed through twice before. :-(
34. Dean was looking for 34 while I was originally booming 33.
35.
36. Somewhere along here, Dean came into a control from a different angle, and joined the group. We four travelled to 182 together.

81. Cracked an EE joke here. The symbol looked like the electrical symbol for a capacitor, here means "gate". I said, "It's the gate capacitance." (In microelectronics that's the capacitance on the gate node of the transistor.

184.
185. +02:00Foggy brain; I went down the wrong trail, having mis-compared the junction shape on the map to the terrain.

191. Fodder rack. I get it. Hah-hah.
192.
193. Encountered a complete trail ringing the knoll W of the lot, got confused, and followed it to the road. (Almost ran off the map). Calmed down, reoriented, and hit it.
194. I had guessed this would be the anthill, b/c I had seen the box for the game near the "fodder rack".

199.
200. Fuzzy navigation. Some confused wandering.
201.
202.
203. I must not have rotated the map as I turned my body, because I was expecting the control in the wrong 1/3 of land, as delimited by the road junction. But the code matched.
F. Last ones in. I guess I'm the rotten egg. Many thanks to J-J, for putting on an extremely creative, definitely goofy, memorable event.
