Race Evaluation

DVOA Brandywyne: Red

Wyatt

1. +00:30Straight. Trail to right was faster, but I got some good green training for next week, and I know I need to be better focussed for the start.
2. +00:20Started down to trail for 15 seconds, then decided up to trail was better, but didn't get high enough so when through forest most of the way. Again, some good 'green' training...
3. Somehow I had in my mind that I was approaching backyards, so I didn't take the road, but rather the trail. Road would have been faster. Near end, I just took the trail down to the road, then ran down the near side of the first creek to avoid rock and along the bottom.
4. +00:05Up, near creek at first, then bear in and back.
5. Down a bit to avoid downed tree, then up most of the climb just after cross the rocky reentrant
6. Down looked good, but getting there looked bad, so I went high on trails. Those trails were pretty rocky so you couldn't move very fast. Looking at it after, getting down to the road looks even worse, but it might have been worth it?
7. Drifted a little right of line, could tell best when crossing 2nd trail and then aimed in.
8. +00:05Straightish, lots of briar in the field, took trail out of field but left it too early despite very visible bag
9. +00:05Across and up to upper trail to fence/trail through green, across field, surprised by odd road, ran it to trail (should've kept going), straight in from there.
10. Staying high to avoid the green. This was fun.
11. Dart back out, hit some briar.
12. S out of bag, couldn't read clearings but saw new trail going out along the right ridgeline. Stayed on ridgeline when trail turned west, catching other trails, and drop to bag. A rapid drop to the west may have been just as good.
13. SW to trail to bridge to pine forest trail (one of ~5 or so!) Vaguely recognized field from a long ago US relay champs.
14. Straight with a little bend to the right
15. Noticed I wasn't pushing as hard once I hit the dirt
