Race Evaluation

33rd Annual Blue Hills: Traverse

3. By this leg the crowd started thinning out enough to see who I was going to be hanging around with for the next hour and a half. Alar was just ahead, and Timmy Reif flew by. John Hansman was right behind, although he fell off the back after a while, and at some point I realized that Tim Parson was in the group as well, though I don't know if he was at this point.
4. Around the west end of the lake, then trail route left ofthe line, cutting a couple of corners.
5. Well right to avoid the green, hitting the trail just NW of the junction.
6. No prob, read my way in p[retty smoothly with the gang in tow.
7. Out to the trail, attacked from the small trail crossing.
8. Attacked from when I could see stone wall corner on my left. Seeing Ernst and Joe on their way out assured me that I was going the right way.
9. Around the hill on trails to the north, cutting corners.

13. Through the woods, and picked up the trail going north from the pipeline, attacked from bend.
14. +01:00Around to the left, which was evidentally a bit slower than the route to the right (Timmy suggested over the top, but Tim, Alar and I weren't up for that.) Ross and Ernst were leaving as we got there (last I saw of them), Joe was wandering around looking for the boulder.

16. Joe and Alar went out to the road, Tim and Timmy followd me on the straight route. Saw no sign of Alar around the control, making us think he must be behind us.
17. Barreled straight through the green and nailed it. Alar was already there.
18. Straight, which was initially a tad slow, but then opened up pretty nicely. Had to tie my shoe in here (just like Peter!).
19. +02:30Dumb. Alar and I just headed up the hill on the direct trail without even looking to see the far superior route on the dirt road to the right. Executed it fine, but the unnecesary steep climb cost us a lot of time.
20. No problem, but I was running out of gas and walked a lot of this. Finally managing to get a little bit of a lead on Tim and Timmy, who I was figuring might outsprint me at the end.
21. Couldn't find the trail initially in the green. Saw Alar leaving the control, last time I saw anybody.
