3. Almost convinced myself that I was off course halfway there, but decided I was okay and didn't correct myself into oblivion. Checked one wrong boulder before climbing up to the correct one.
4.
5. Left turn to take the jeep trail up to the shelter, and the small trail over Big Hill to attack from the SE. Hesitated a bit before leaving the trail to make sure I was in the right spot. Wil Smith was coming out of the control just as I was arriving.
6. Saw Wil leaving as I crossed the trail.
7. Trail, maybe a bit further than I should have, in order to attack from the solid pair of boulders.
8. Got a little low, but saw Wil coming down from the reentrant. Last time I saw him.

10. Maybe not the best route. Almost certainly not the best route, in fact, but it was good training. Started out straight, but failed to find the white corridor just beyond the marsh and fought through some green to the stream leading out of the marsh. Hit the trail on the N side of Second Reservoir, then followed the outlet stream and some faint trails, just above #16, and finally contoured around the hill. Just about spiked it, passed within a couple of meters and took a quick look at the upper cliff before realizing I was practically on top of it.

12. Drifter right, went though the flat area that's actually kind of marshy, and climbed SW to the control. Good solid attack.

15. More or less straight, struggled through the blueberries, got a little to the right of the line 2/3 of the way there and wasn't certain where I was, but I started recognizing features when the woods got nicer as I approached the butterfly area. Caught Kissy at the control.
16.
17. Saw Kissy again.

20. Drifted left and got to the larger marshes down below, but nothing looked like the smaller marsh that I had intended to go to. Realized where I was and climbed up to the knoll. Saw Rick Worner going the other way.

22. Saw Rick again.

24. Almost missed seeing this control and headed for #25. Slight miss, was heading for a boulder to the left and a little higher, but it didn't look right, and I turned and saw the control off to the side.
25. Lost n the laurel, drifter pretty far left, and wasn't sure where I was when I hit the small trail, so I turned right and ran a bit until I reached the high point, then dived into the green. I was able to pick a reasonable diagonal line through the laurel, and the climb up from the big trail was uneventful once I managed to make myself stop looking at control #14.
26. Coin toss, decided to go right and take the paved tower access road down. Cut the corners on the switchbacks (and got caught behind some barberry) and said hi to Balter who was walking up and asked me if all of the controls were okay. Pretty slow trudging up the trail after the road crossing.
