1. | Started ok but as I passed by the GO control I got a burr in my compression shorts. Apparently was from the previous meet and had not come out in the wash. Took some time to find it and get it out.

4. | Shortly after starting this leg I realized my compass was not spinning freely. In fact it was not spinning at all. I had been moving rather blindly at that point expecting to cross a stream (which I did) and hit a trail (which I also did) Unfortunately I only had a vague idea of my direction and it was soon clear that the trail was not the one I wanted to be on so I had no idea where I was. Figured I would stay on the trail until I got to a recognizable point and then navigate more carefully. When I eventually did, I was on the other side of the map near the route I had taken to #2. Long trail run around to 4 and a lot of time lost.

8. | Another screw up from no compass work. Direction got off while crossing the trails and was unsure of my location. Had to run down the trail until I could see the river to relocate.
9. | Another leg similar to 3-4. This time I knew I had no compass so was a bit more careful. Still did the same thing and came out at the wrong trail. Did not lose as much time because I recognized it from before. Traced the trail back from where I had come out before and determined where I was now. Went to the correct trail.
