Race Evaluation

QOC Clopper Lake: Blue

cmpbllv

1. Wanted to cross right away, but wasn't ready to get my feet that wet. Should have just crossed - but at least avoided the fence.
2. Knew I was cutting in a bit to the left. This one was deliberate.
3. D +02:00Another miss in the transition from rough to precision nav, and that after coming off a known point (top of erosion gully)...angles and compass was all wonky starting here.
4.
5. P Begins a series of controls moving effectively on the line
6. P
7. P
8. P Low approach allowed me to count my way in...another runner I saw was wondering how I could tell them all apart.
9. P Hill in a ditch. Felt like Flying Pig.
10. P +01:00Didn't read the vegetation well here on the final approach, went too far left before seeing a control out on the rocks (19) and understanding where I was.
11. D P +01:00Difficulty with direction on the way out, less than optimal 2 sides of a triangle. Trouble shifting gears again on the final approach...saw the rootstocks, but didn't understand they were the onesI wanted. They seemed to far from the line of ditches I was running in, and there was a 3rd really big one that wasn't mapped. A bit confused here.
12.
13. D +00:20Bad angle again, had to force myself to go the right way by looking at the powerlines, and then ended up taking a less than ideal route.
14. D +00:45Beautiful running, had just started to accelerate when I realized I was going the wrong direction. 90 degree parallel error.
15. D R +01:00Another fight to go the right direction. And then apparently my route was not as fast as I thought it would be.
16.
17.
18. D P +00:30Stayed on the road and crossed the bridge on the wrong side of the water...think I had mentally transferred myself to the dashed line road at 90 degrees to the pavement. Another mental struggle to right myself.
19. D +00:30Let myself get pulled left by the crowd and thinking I was one ditch to the right. I was on target, just misread the ditch.
20. P But successfully dropped the crowd here with a good read and cutting off the trail by the knolls just past the swamp.
21. D +00:30Momentarily stupified that the control was not on the rootstock nearest the rocky ground...mapped as a cup depression, think that might be a mapping mistake?
F. Where the heck is the finish? And why is this my fastest split when I was so brain-dead?
