1. | +02:30 | haven't run on 1:15 in a while, got confused and went down the reentrant N of the correct one
2. | +04:00 | Apparently still not used to the scale. Went down a reentrant way N of control. Mega loss of time.
3. | +01:00 | Seemed like I just drifted on this one. Not as bad as the last two errors.
4. | |||||||
5. | +00:30 | Went out to the road, bobbled on the knolls S of the actual control.
6. | Again, drifted, but as PG would say, sometimes you get lucky.
7. | |||||||
8. | Left the road at the first right bend, slightly confused by the vegetation in the reentrant, but I trusted myself in bearing off to the right, so I went down the reentrant until I hit the control. Caught up with the Swiss guy (Thomas?)
9. | To the right of the line.
10. | I decided to avoid the extra climb and go straight out to the road. It was definitely slower (2.5 min) but I think I had a bit more gas later on, so who knows.
11. | Kind of went down the side of the spur and then into the reentrant (trying to stick to the least-steep parts). As a side note, this was a really steep place to have the long champs.
12. | Up the reentrant to the left of the line, then across the slash and down that shallow reentrant into the control. John Goodwin passed me leaving #11.
13. | Back out to the road, walking up the hill. The Halden girl was behind me on this leg, which was motivational. I decided to cut through the last slash before the road. Probably faster to cut less or stay on the road; laziness is borne of fatigue.
14. | Right of the line, hit that trail in the green right at the kink which was a great attack point. TG, Halden girl & Thomas were all with me at the control. I think we all stopped for the same 15 seconds to drink up, then diverged and met up again at #15.
15. | Again, out to the road. It was silly to have the road as a viable attackpoint for half the controls on this course. Anyway, Ted had some kind of brain fart and ran up the lefthand slope, so I attempted to gracefully punch and leave without indicating that I had found the bag. I don't think it worked, but it was kind of fun.
16. | Apparently Ted had another fart on this leg, but I was too busy "chasing" JJ. Kind of reminds me of the time my mom got pulled over for not turning right in a right-turn-only lane. After a 10mph chase, she finally realized that the cop was trying to pull her over, so she stopped. The cop's comment was "well, I can't really call it a high-speed chase...".... yeah, so I was basically staggering along behind JJ.
17. | Still staggering, but now passed JJ.
18. | Boy, that was a useless addition of climb and length. WTF, yo?! Anyway, I had enough to outrun my followers into the finish.
