steady run 2:40:00 [3]

Lochnagar. Nice morning and legs feeling too bad so headed off. Windy and chilly at carpark so kept tracksters on (good choice!).
Steady up big track (stream bed) and kept plugging away on climb past Foxes Well and up to the col. stopped to put on hat and waterproof as wind getting stronger/colder. Wind really gusty, one minute behind, the next a head wind…
Walked large part of climb then got running once gradient eased. Lots of hoar frost on vegetation and rocks on plateau… must have been hovering around zero. One patch of snow to cross just before summit, still pretty hard. Short stop then headed down Glas Allt route. Much more sheltered so jacket & hat off by bridge. Legs feeling pretty shafted by now. Took it steady down past the waterfall, didn’t fancy a fall. Then “just” along the loch… OMG it is such a long way when your legs are f**ked and it’s into the wind. Ground it out and only had to walk a couple of uphill bits :-)
Happy to get back to car and a whiz back down Glen Muick and a stop at the butcher to get some sirloin steak for dinner -earned it!

Pilates 1:00:00 [1]

Small weighted balls. Seemed tough, lots of ab and shoulder work.

steady run 53:00 [3]

Warm up (15mins) then academy run club. Only 5 out -did a lap of Queens Loch

Sunday Apr 21 #

steady run 36:00 [3]

Dinnet along riverbank and back via railway. With pooch, so a bit faster than normal ;-)

Saturday Apr 20 #

steady run 43:00 [3]

Lap of Loch Kinord (short options). Pleasant trot round, met Lauren half way (with 2 large dogs) and chatted rest of way with her.
Almost tempted by a dip, but still a bit chilly…

Note

Hour of chain sawing and heaving logs - must be good/bad for something… back?

Friday Apr 19 #

Intervals 6:00 [3]

Up main Scolty hill, finishing up spiral staircase in tower :-) Glad to get inside out of howling wind and rain...
Legs feeling strong... maybe hills work?

steady run 53:00 [3]

Scolty car park to hill then out to west, back via smaller tracks but forced off-line by windblown - still covering some main tracks...! FFS its about 30 months since the initial storms and FLS haven't yet cleared tracks in a heavily used forest next to a major Deeside town... I guess they just don't care.

Thursday Apr 18 #

Note

Bit of walking round hanging and collecting controls at Aboyne for after-school club.
