NTOA's Tyler State Park meet. Brown, 4.0 km, 120 m climb. 70s, sunny, but with a little breeze and not too humid - I was so glad it wasn't like last year, when it was 80 and muggy, and I just couldn't move!
I forgot to stop my watch, so I adjusted the time.
1, 2, and 3 were easy. On my way to 4 I ended up at the waterfall in the spillway below the dam, then headed south up to the earth walls. But I kept climbing southeast instead of contouring around to the southwest to the depression. Corrected when I could see it from above. From 6 to 7 I went up to the road junction water point, but instead of heading across the rough open to attack from the south, I headed through the recently burned forest. If only I had read the course setter's notes I would have known that, even though they burned the medium green, it was still medium green briars and berry vines and very slow! I went too high going to 9 and missed the reentrant with my control in it so had to go back. The rest were easy!
I was 3rd of 3 in F45+ and 11th of 18 who finished (30 minutes behind the fastest Brown runner). So fun seeing everyone!
