Tuesday Apr 16 #

12 PM

Running intervals 20:00 [5] 4.69 km (4:16 / km)

Lunchtime lakeside run, with 10 x 90(30s). Speed was slower than last week’s session, despite shorter reps. I have been feeling really tired lately, and I didn’t want to get sore quads for a week, so didn’t push max. My lower back has been sore and I’m mindful of the looming 8hr rogaine. Still good to get the run done.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 3.97 km (5:02 / km)

Running 28:30 [3] 5.18 km (5:30 / km)

Headtorch Farrer Ridge loop.

Orienteering race (Course dist. 8km) 1:24:52 [4] *** 10.15 km (8:22 / km)
8c

NSW SL#4 & ACT SL#3 at Snows Hills. This was really tricky. 8 long legs through often low-vis green with only some contours and termite mounds to go off. I blew 5mins to Matt on c1, didn’t run around too much but thought and pondered way too long, thinking about how best to relocate. I found a control on the edge of an open patch and relocated off that. Then I was super cautious for the rest, and didn’t get lost again but hesitated and zig-zagged a lot. Even when I was on line, I was rarely confident that I actually was. So much fun! :D :D

Saturday Apr 13 #

5 PM

Running 48:30 [3] 8.91 km (5:27 / km)

Matt didn’t get back from Wee Jasper til after 5pm, so that was my excuse not to do a long run. I did a lap of Mt Taylor, and it got pretty dark for the last bit but as long as you just lift your feet a bit higher, you don’t really need much light to keep running.

Friday Apr 12 #

5 PM

Running 36:30 [3] 7.12 km (5:08 / km)

Farrer/Mawson streets. I felt so exhausted and my quads were still a bit sore so didn’t do any tempo. 2.5hrs walking around the zoo today didn’t help (and piggy-backing Isabelle all the way back to the carpark from the Rhinos).

Thursday Apr 11 #

12 PM

Note

45mins of yoga at lunch. A friend had organised it as a health and well-being initiative for the division. It highlighted my bad left hip and lower back, but was good to do some extra stretching, and focused breathing is always relaxing. Could at least try a little more stretching at home.
6 PM

Running 29:00 [3] 5.17 km (5:37 / km)

Farrer Ridge loop. Swapped out the tempo for Friday’s easy run as my quads are still a little sore from Tuesday. First headtorch run of the year, it wasn’t too bad as it wasn’t that cold.

Wednesday Apr 10 #

1 PM

Running 47:00 [3] 8.52 km (5:31 / km)

Up Isaacs Ridge.
