MTB 1:03:39 [3] 24.93 km (2:33 / km) +17m 2:33 / km
ahr:123 max:149

Can’t think of a better way to prepare for a demanding trail race than this. I guess.

I will say that I’m not at all worried about the result for this one. Just going to grip it and rip it, John Daley style. There aren’t a lot of fast sections on this course and the recent heavy rains should add a greasy, muddy dimension that will be way beyond what it was last week. And that was difficult enough.

Thinking of wearing the heavier, grippier peregrines as opposed to the much newer and lighter ASICS trail racers.

Running 1:15:49 [3] 15.05 km (5:02 / km) +21m 5:00 / km
ahr:148 max:164 shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 4 grey

A few out and backs today, for good causes.

We forgot to replenish coffee supplies last night and Jenn wound up going to work seriously under caffeinated. Like any decent and devoted husband I rerouted my run to the Starbucks near her office and performed a welcome, if sweaty, delivery service. I don’t want to say I’m a hero, but it’s pretty close.

Then I tried to get Ben up. No dice. That’s a superpower I could put to some regular use. Now in order to fulfil the covenant he may have to run on the treadmill at the gym because the weather is so nasty. When I mentioned it he said: “um, but, isn’t that, like, uh, dumb?”

MTB 1:27:10 [3] 31.57 km (2:46 / km) +19m 2:45 / km
ahr:123 max:155

Not planning on much of a taper for ITT. I’d rather hit some time and mileage goals for this cycle instead. But either way, an easier day was due.

Running 1:43:34 [3] 20.05 km (5:10 / km) +59m 5:05 / km
ahr:155 max:159 shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 4 grey

At this rate I’m going to need new shoes sooner than later.

Pretty tired on the way back.

Running 1:15:49 [3] 15.14 km (5:00 / km) +24m 4:58 / km
ahr:150 max:160 shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 4 grey

The go to route. Hot again, but not too bad at all. Legs are tired.

Sunday Aug 12 #

6 PM

Running 51:14 [3] 10.36 km (4:57 / km) +17m 4:54 / km
ahr:144 max:163 shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 4 grey

Solo to give Ben some time to get psyched up and/or awake and fed enough for a run. Yes, this started at 7 pm. Teenagers. The best and the weirdest of all the humans.

Running 24:20 [3] 5.03 km (4:50 / km) +8m 4:48 / km
ahr:150 max:162 shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 4 grey

With Ben who is starting to enjoy himself a bit more.

Saturday Aug 11 #

10 AM

Strength 32:04 [3] 1.64 km (19:35 / km) +1m 19:32 / km
ahr:82 max:120

Once around the island on the SUP with Jenn. Got waked but stayed up.

Swimming 11:58 [3] 0.57 km (21:09 / km) +2m 20:52 / km
ahr:81 max:148

A tiny taste of open water swimming. Did not enjoy this at all. But I could do a bit if I had to. Just generally find this stressful and unfun.
