Hi Everyone,

We encourage you all to come out this Sunday for something a little different, and never before done by Ottawa OC. The McCarthy Woods map is a beautiful small map right in the middle of the city which boasts a significant trail network, and a vast technical open area unlike any other Ottawa map.

A chase sprint is a series of 2 sprints where runners are ranked by their combined time for the two races. For maximum excitement and spectator enjoyment the top runners will have seeded start times for the second sprint based on their performance in the first sprint.

Due to the nature of the area and of the style of course there are only the two chase sprint courses and one novice course for those who would like to try something a little simpler. As they are sprint courses they are not too difficult to navigate. If, however, you are finding it easier than you were expecting or would like, then you aren’t running fast enough.

The first sprint, or Prologue, is roughly 2.5 km long. People are welcome to start this course whenever they like, however, if they wish to also run the second sprint, or Chase, they must be back from the Prologue by 12:00. All runners who’s time on the Prologue is within 15 minutes of the winner will be seeded to start in the chasing start between 12:30 and 1:00. Runners may opt out of the seeded start if they wish. The Chase is roughly 3.2 km long.

As usual courses will close at 2 pm. Controls will be picked up from 2 pm onward. Regardless of your start time, return to the finish by 2 pm. Registration closes at 11:00.
