Sonoran Desert O in January!

Two days of classic courses from White to Blue at the Ironwood Picnic Area. SI-punching all the way -rental sticks available.

Ironwood trees, giant saguaros, prickly pears, chollas, mesquites, and other hardy species line the washes and dot the sandy desert in Tucson Mountain Park at the foot of the Tucson Mountains. Ironwood Park is just west of the city near the Desert Museum and Old Tucson Studios. The terrain is open and it is generally easy to run, but there are subtle features such as a network of narrow dry washes, which will challenge any orienteer.

The week before the Ironwood weekend meet we're planning to arrange daily training events in other nearby locations beginning on Tuesday, January 19.

Information for visitors: Tucson has all levels of accommodations close to the meet site. Historical Tucson, museums and the University of Arizona are near-by. The January weather is mostly sunny and pleasantly warm, but there can be cold and even rainy days.

Welcome to the Southwest!
