6/12/24 hour events, with pre-registration.

WHEN - Base Camp will open at 4:00pm on Friday August 7, 2009. Meet packets may be picked up and late registrations will take place at the Base Camp from 4:00pm to 10:00pm Friday 8/8/09 and from 8:00am to 10:30am on Saturday 8/8/09. A mandatory pre-race meeting for ALL participants will take place at Base Camp at 11:00am Saturday August 8, 2009 with a mass start of all participants at 12:00 noon.

LOCATION - This year's event will be held at New Michigan State Forest west of Norwich, NY. Base Camp (start/finish/camping, etc.) for this year's Rogaine is located at an old gravel pit just off an old CCC road just south of State Route 23. Be advised that this a very "primitive" site. Drinking water will be trucked in for the event and 2 Port-a-jons will be available and not much else.

DIRECTIONS -
From Norwich: From the junction of NY Rt. 12 and NY Rt. 23, go west on Rt. 23 for 12.3 miles to North Road (on left).
From Cincinnatus: From the junction of NY Rt. 26 and NY Rt. 23, go east on Rt. 23 for 11 miles to North Road (on right).
To continue: Go south on North Rd. for 0.9 mile to the second four corner junction (pavement ends at 0.4 mile at the first four corner road junction). At the second four corner junction, turn East (left) onto the old CCC road. Travel 0.5 mile on this dirt road to a right hand turn into the old gravel pit track.
Orange and white orienteering signs will be posted from Route 23 at North Road to the gravel pit.

MAP - Using USGS topo data, high resolution orthophotos, and DEC land use maps as base materials along with actual field surveys a detailed topographical map of the competition area was produced entitled тАЬSouth PharsaliaтАЭ. The scale is 1:30,000 with a 5-meter contour interval and is printed with a color laser printer. A select set of mapping standards are used; i.e. to Orienteers the amount of detail will be less than the average orienteering competition map but, to the typical hiking enthusiast this map will have substantially more detail than the general USGS maps commonly available.

Entry fee $45/person.
