About The Race:
This will be a classic 24 hour adventure race. Teamwork, perseverance, and navigation will be key is you are your team move though this 100+ mile course. We have made some changes to attract beginners that include not UTM plotting and smaller gear list. This race will be great for veteran racers and should be doable for the well trained beginner that is looking for that next challenge.

The 2016 Adventure Rage will be hosted right in the heart of Northern Michigan - Grayling. The town of Grayling has routinely been the host location for Chad Swander and the River Rats races and we will be going back to these roots to put together a great course. The terrain and available resources around Grayling are perfect for adventure racing. There is plenty of water, with both rivers and lakes, big hills, single and two tracks for biking and of course lots of wilderness and even a swamp or two. Our goal is to keep this course “old-school” with lots of great navigation with challenging wilderness. Please spread the word and get your together and register today!

Racer Check In Information & Directions:
All racer check-in and pre-race activities will take place at Penrod’s Canoe Livery right Grayling – 100 Maple St, Grayling, Mi 49738 www.penrodscanoe.com

We encourage everyone to make the early check in Friday evening to save time Saturday morning. We will do a simple gear check during this process and ensure all waivers are set and you are ready to race. When you complete check-in you will receive some information on the course including the number of transition areas and the order of disciplines so you can begin planning.

Trekking / Navigation / Orienteering:
You should expect anything from dense brush to open forest to low wetlands. Trekking will be on roads, trails, and significant sections of off trail bush whacking. Navigation will be key. Mileage will be in the range of 15-25 miles. More detail to come in future racer updates.

Canoe:
All canoes are provided for this race. Teams will be paddling 20-30 miles depending on the final course layout. Teams should expect beautiful and remote river and lake paddling. Canoes are provided for teams, 1 canoe for 2 person teams and 2 canoes for 4 person teams. Bring proper lights to be able to paddle safely in the dark if needed.

Paddles and PFD’s are NOT provided. If you absolutely need them, please contact race staff (luke@infiterrasports.com) and we can work with you to make arrangements for having these items on hand for your team.
*Special Note for Solo racers: Solo’s will have the option of bringing their own kayak or asking that one be provided. Solo racers, please contact race staff by e-mail (luke@infiterrasports.com) to let us know if you plan to bring a kayak or need one supplied.

Mountain Bike:
Biking mileage will be in the 45-70 mile range. Biking will likely be on all road types possibly including some single track sections. Be prepared to navigate on the bike sections and the potential for some hike-a-bike and route finding. You should have good working bike lights and a good backup headlamp if your bike light batteries should fail. A good amount of biking is expected at night.
