Seventeen years running, Barebones has been one of the highlight events in the orienteering calendar in Western Canada.

This year is going to be another fun weekend packed with orienteering and hanging out with good friends in the majesty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Highlights:

• Canada Cup sprint race – the Centre-to-Centre sprint. Race from the Canmore Nordic Centre down through the maze of ski tracks and into the town centre in Canmore. Can it be done in 12 minutes?
  
• Long distance race at Canmore Nordic Centre – celebrity course planner Lars Lindstrom (Danish National Team coach) is setting a course that will provide a tough physical challenge with lots of great route choice. Results from this race will play a big part in determining who will represent Canada at the World Champs this summer in Switzerland. Come and run with our High Performance Program athletes as they race for a place on the WOC team.
  
• A longer-than-usual middle distance race on one of Canada's most enjoyable orienteering maps – Mt Laurie. It is always the highlight of any orienteering season to enjoy running under the striking face of Mt Yamnuska in the fabulous contour details and incredible open forest and Sound of Music type meadows. We're making this race longer than typical for a middle distance race because we know you're going to want it that way.
  
• Kids Fun Zone – every race will have a Kids' Fun Zone in the arena, with a variety of orienteering related activities for the youngsters after they finish their races
