Why aren't Mountain Marathons popular in North America, similar to the UK...?
The closest thing I can find to them in North Americas is "the Stockville is a two-day foot and navigation event, inspired by the mountain marathons of Europe and the UK."https://rootstockracing.org/index.php/the-stockvil...
I'm going to cross post on the Orienteering side of Attackpoint because it's also related to Rogaining.
I think I've seen this post somewhere before. It had a different ending though.
I’ve done a couple of mountain marathons in Sweden and Scotland, and they were really fun! As far as I know, there is only The Stockville in North America at the moment, and the reviews have been excellent.
Here is a link to probably one of the toughest in the US. This group puts on first class races as well. https://www.aravaiparunning.com/silverton/
That’s the other type of mountain marathon - and yes, Aravaipa puts on great events! Here is the type of mountain marathon Brian was curious about.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_marathon
Thanks Bash. Terminology can be confusing and challenging.
