Hi all - how did the races go today?

Just saw a few results:
F21 - Alex Jospe 2 min ahead of Kseniya (and ahead of Gniatouk for 1st time?)
M21 - Sergei Rhyzkov just ahead of Erin

Intermediate School
AJ Riley 1st male 26 min.
Kirstin Mayland 1st female 40 min.

VFMS Team 1 @ 240 pts - perhaps one of the OH teams ahead of that?

And, since Barb asked, I can report I did see Isabel...

Several inches of snow remained, the tree branches were heavy with it. As the sun got higher and temperatures rose, huge wet clumps fell from the trees, everything was dripping and soggy. A lot of snow still around for tomorrow...

Izzy 5+ and 6+ min up on the Bretons, a few minutes more up on Evalin.

no report from the Trail O yet, but I thought it was a great venue and course.

From logs, I see that George Minarik didn't make it today but hopes to make it tomorrow, and it seems his mom (who took a fall) is OK.
I like Peggyd's description of the snow as being fun to run in.

I hope Evalin did the Trail-O; she's been really good at it, other times. Like at corn maze.

Any interscholastic scoring results? I'm not even sure where to find who was on what team, to try to figure them myself...

In intermediate, it looks like a Cascade club team in first overall; Union County as first place school team, Valley Forge 1 as a close second place. But of course that is not official.

The Corn Maze Trail-O was perhaps the best ever, because it was straightforward and unambiguous with no "tricks". There were three helium balloons floating above the maze, all at dead ends, and you had to identify where they were without entering the maze. Most people stayed on the viewing platform, but it was also legal to walk around the maze (although it was pretty difficult to see the balloons from anywhere but the platform).

Thanks DVOA for a great meet! Doing Interscholastics and Intercollegiates together is a huge logistical challenge; getting dumped on by snow the day before makes a real mess. Your handling of these adversities was superb. Courses were excellent, the dinner was great, and it all was simply very classy.

Thanks DVOA for a great weekend of orienteering. Thanks also for allowing our juniors to have their results directly compared to the eligible schools champs. Also a big thanks for making us feel at home with the snow. :-)
