Great recount of the day, Coach. I can easily see how you would be a super positive influence on the team...carrying two canoes helps! Way to go!
Yes, she is awesome! Her "outdoors" experience was invaluable. Her positive attitude and stead-fast decision making was huge in moving the team forward. I learned so much from her during this race.
And her ability to hoist canoes and carry them up hill for a kilometer doesn't hurt either :) I would want her on my team again anytime (if she would have me of course).
Congrats, Coach LD! After watching so many long adventure races with friends involved, I'm glad you've seen a race from the inside now. I'm sure you'll be doing it again in the not-too-distant future.
I will second JustMe's comments.
But now the secret is out: it is easier to portage a kevlar canoe than carry the paddles and other gear ;p
I am glad that you took the chance and joined us on this adventure. Hopefully it whetted your appetite enough so that you are game to do it again!
He, he...I haven't finished reading the report yet because I can't get past the beginning where the local guys out for some fishing called you to start. I just crack up over and over. I'm going to try to finish reading it now....
Thanks for helping out after. It was great to see your smiling face at the finish.
Great work to you and your team.
Ah shucks you guys - everyone is always so nice on AP. Why can't the real world be so warm and fuzzy? Thanks
Awesome job on you refinish WandAR! And you were all smiling :)
JustMe - Outdoorsmama has outed me, it's probably easier to carry the canoe than all that loose clobber. I'll take the canoe thanks. We should do a trip sometime.
