Who's going, or not going? If not going, why not? It's long, there's prize money offered, and it could be a doorway into getting into his planned but not finalized Exped Alaska by the same race director.

It conflicts with WRC in SD. It also is competing with Itera in the UK on the ARWS schedule. Too bad. I wish that was taken into consideration as I heard good things about the 2011 version.

Afsheen, I raced in 2011. It's a phenomenal race, very challenging, and very well organized. Memories of the race: paddling Lake Pend Oreille late afternoon as it went from calm to rough white-caps as the wind picked up, abseiling off a rope into the same lake, some of the best downhilling from rough and rocky to fast and flowing (which proved equally dangerous), great food and fun environment at every T/A, and the best finish I've ever experienced - a coordinated finish at a beer festival that is planned to be repeated this year! Plenty of moose, bear, wolves, coyotes, and mountain lions to discover, as well as incredible views. As I write this, it's difficult to know that I'm not going back.

I raced in 2011, but it just didn't work with my team's schedule this year. One of the bit plusses in 2011 was the logistics - they picked us up at the airport. I really enjoyed the cool downhill single track section (even though I had no front brake), the views, and of course, the finish. The finish section was really cool because all the teams finished within a short time frame (during the beer fest) and we actually had a cheering section at the finish.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am hoping to make time for one big race this year and have been trying to decide between Gold Rush, which starts only a few hours from my house so the logistics are awesome, or Idaho, which would be new and exciting for me. I'd be racing with my brother in law who's cool with either.
I'm still thinking Gold Rush due to ease of travel. but wanted to hear from you all on the matter regarding Idaho.

It really seems like an amazing race but as JayXC mentioned it conflicts with other well established events.

It is unfortunate that all those expedition races are all less that a month away from each other and targeting pretty much the same North American customers:

Untamed New England June 17-22rd
Cowboy Tough July 17-20th
Expedition Idaho August 8-16th
Raid International Gaspésie September 10-14th
Gold Rush September 10-14th

race started with a fun-looking prologue at a water park - teams had to climb UP a waterslide and then tube back down.

only 5 teams, which is a bummer, but maybe the silver lining is it's pretty awesome for North America to have so many choices for multi-day races this year!

And if PQ 2015 actually happens, then we'll have too many choices again. Which is great and not so great. Maybe the Exped organizers can arrange a mutually beneficial schedule? Or shorten their races to more manageable 1-2 day races so more people can go to more of them?
