It's kind of too bad that the brutality of the course outweighed the technical difficulty so much. I found it fun, but only just. I think these trials tested fitness more than navigation; no idea if that's the right approach or not but it was certainly a hard weekend!
Yes, I agree with you. I guess it goes in cycles, this time around there was just more emphasis on physical part of orienteering, for which I was not as prepared for sufficiently.
Following from afar, I had been expecting Cristina to make the team, mostly from seeing her improved (quick)routes in Norway. The US girls are definitely getting better, which is good to see, though tough for those who don't make it.
Next year!
It's still winter here, sort of, and I couldn't imagine running important races now.
We need next TT in Feb in 2015! Snowy/icy March did not allow for much running this early in the season, so this was definitely a factor...
You're a tough cookie! Keep up the training. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next fall at the US champs and NAOC.
Thanks Suzanne. I will try to keep my motivation. It was great seeing you this weekend and glad to see you competing.
Does the US have a different length of Middle race to the rest of the O world (55 min winning time!)???
It was meant to be very challenging, which I appreciate, but it was certainly not representative of a middle course :(...
