I'm looking for new AR/O shoes for long distances and want to get some advice from the group. My favorite they don't make anymore, the original Vasque Blurs. Never tore, very long lasting soles, never blistered, though heavy. I've tried or am using North Face double track (tear and break down really fast), Cascadia 8's (blisters no matter what I do, sloppy in the forefoot at my size), Saucony Peregrines (just not comfortable after a few hours). Salomon and Inov-8's are too narrow in the forefoot unfortunately. Any other ideas?

I have started some prelimnary research for a new pair of AR shoes for next season. I am in a similar boat with a wider foot. I used to wear Salomon XA PRO 3D Ultras, they weren't the current "2" version which has either changed very slightly or my older shoes are so warn in that they feel different.

It might be worth looking at what new balance has to offer. Most of their trail shoes are "minimalist" but they do have at least one maybe two shoes that are in the 10mm drop range. I have yet to try any of these shoes on though.

I have heard the Montrail Mountain Masochist recommended a few times on a trail running podcast, again I have not tried the shoe.

New Balance has come out with two shoes using straight last and wider toe boxes. It's the New Balance Trail Leadville 100 1210.
There is a similar shoe in their lineup, the 910, which is built using the same UL-1 last. I will have a review out shortly on the 910, as soon as I receive it.
