Hi all

I'm considering a seatpost rear rack for the Costa Rica ARWC to limit pressure on my arse and my back from the rucksack. There seem to be a few products on the market but I was wondering whether the users on Attackpoint could make some recommendations.

Thanks

Gary

My wife paulette kirby used this one in Patagonia and likes it. It is light and strong.
See you at ARWC.

Thanks Randy. Did she use it with the compatible RX bags or just strap on non-specific Topeak bags and bungee them down?

We used this in PER a few years ago:

Pretty heavy but durable and quick to install. The one Randy suggested appears better though (lighter).

Good luck at Worlds. See ya out there soon, maybe a rematch at next years ITERA? ;)

Gary, I have used Topeak Beam Rack for a few years. Very happy and they work well. Also have the compatible RX bag (small), but before I got the compatible bag, I used to bungee a dry-bag on. Either way works well... Dry-bag and bungee is obviously much lighter! Certainly worth it by taking a bit of weight out of the backpack.

Harps - rematch sounds good. There'll be no midges in Wales you'll be glad to hear!

Briangardner et al - thanks for the advice guys.

Paulette just strapped a waterproof bag on it.

The Topeak beam rack was delivered and I took it for a trial on 5 hours of technical MTBing. It works great! By taking approx 3-4kg out of my backpack there was significant less fatigue in my shoulders, back and butt! :-)

"Revelate" Designs makes bikepacking bags - would work well for longer adventure races.
