How close could one get to doing an adventure race in all 50 states? I have been slowly ticking them off and I know there are lots of races out there to try still, but it seems like many states don't have anything. I'm thinking you'd probably have to settle for sprints to really fill out the list. Doing some searching, it looks like the last race in Hawaii was in 2003. Bummer.
I think Funderstorm has been trying to do that although she's not limiting herself to adventure races.
I got 27. Anybody closer than that? True adventure races, not single sport races even if they were very adventurous rogaines. I would guess you could do maybe 40 of the states.

I've got a lifetime goal of racing in every state and province in Canada and the United States, but I'm not limiting myself to adventure races. My self-imposed requirement is that it has to be an endurance event of no less than two hours. I've still got a looonnnggg way to go but hopefully many years left to keep working on it!
Does crossing state lines during a race count? USARA Nationals a couple years ago was in Georgia and Tennessee.
MI, IN, KY, TN, GA, MO, VA, WV, PA, MT, TX, ME, UT and British Columbia.
Good question! I count it if I spend more than 2 hours in the other state. In Untamed New England a few years ago, we spent a few hours in Vermont, so it counts in my books in case I don't ever get back there!

Unfortunately, probably not adding to that list this year.
GA, NC, VA, WV, MD, PA, NY, ME, UT, MT. None in the midwest or west coast.
Wow 27 states, I think I have visited about that many total, not counting states that I just drove through.
It turns out to be incredibly hard to get to all the states and provinces for anything significant. Being in the east, we could pick off eastern states fairly handily, but getting to stuff on the other side of the Mississippi starts to take a lot of logistical planning. We find ourselves trying to work out combos like "if we go to Salt Lake for this, what other state(s) can we get in the same trip". Eventually I'll just take 5 or 6 weeks off and do a bunch of stuff back to back.
