Women adventure racers, we have a question: a rookie lady racer is wrestling with which pack to use for her "petite frame and short torso". She complains that "all packs tried so far are too tall and/or are too big in the shoulder area."

Any ideas? What's your goto pack for a medium to long race, ladies?

I have been able to use the Salomon 10+ 5 for races up to 4 days (yes even and untamed race), if you have to you can strap stuff on the outside. This is provided others on the team are taking team mandatory gear. for me it was very important to have a vest pack to access things easy. The old model of this pack had the built in water bottle holders which worked well, the new pack you can add them on. the downside is if the pack is full it is tough to get a bladder in and out quickly. If a vest is not that important I would use the Salomon XA 20 (womens). I tend to pack on the lighter side.

for a 7 day race I have used the Osprey womens pack http://www.ospreypacks.com/en/product/womens/ariel...

But only if your mandatory gear list is big (ie. sleeping back, bivy, food for 80 hrs etc).
