Susquehanna Valley Orienteering Announces
THE FOURTEENTH ANNUAL SUSQUEHANNA STUMBLE


The Susquehanna Stumble is a Billygoat-inspired event with a couple of twists. The competitors run between numbered windows in sequential order, but within each window there are several controls which can be visited in ANY order.

WHERE: Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Laurel Lake area, Cooke, PA. (NOTE: The Long Stumble will also be on the Hammonds Rocks map)

WHEN: Mass start at 11:00, Sunday, November 11, 2012

WHAT: The Long-Stumble event will be ~15 km in length, with commemorative towel for the first 20 finishers and the first 5 female finishers.

The Short-Stumble will be ~9 km with commemorative towels for the first 15 finishers and first 5 female finishers.

The course setter is Brad Whitmore; the meet director is Ben Heyser.

White, yellow, and orange recreational courses will also be available. Starts for the recreational courses will be any time between 11:30 and 1 (no preregistration needed).

COST: $ 22 for the Long-Stumble, $ 15 for the Short-Stumble, normal SVO fees ($5 for members, $ 8 for non members) for recreational courses.

TO REGISTER for the STUMBLE EVENTS SEND E-MAIL TO whitmore@stsci.edu AND TELL HIM WHETHER YOU ARE DOING THE SHORT OR LONG COURSE. Deadline is Nov. 9. You can then pay at the event. Morning-of-event registration is also ok but you may have to draw your own course if we run out, and an additional $ 5 will be added to the fee. No preregistration is needed for recreational courses.

DIRECTIONS: From the north: Take I-81 south to Rt 233. Follow 233 to the park. Follow O-signs. From the east: Take Rt 30 west from Gettysburg to Caledonia. Turn right (north) on Rt 233 and follow to the park. Follow O-signs.

Just a reminder to send Brad your info for the Stumble by this evening so we know how many maps to draw before Sunday. We'll have some extras, but the more we know ahead of time the better.

Weather looks fabulous for Sunday - sunny, light wind and a high near 65!
