The forecast is for overall excellent conditions in all respects, with highs in the race area extending into the upper 70s. Chances for cattle are practically nil, as are the chances of hail, tornadoes, dust storms, and beer cans.
I was up at Fort Laramie this afternoon (about 100 miles north of the city of Laramie) and the smoke from the 40 sq mil grass filre at Chadron, Nebraska was pretty bad. Hopefully, it won't make its way this far south.
The winds are forecast to nearly reverse direction and come out of the south instead of from the northeast, and to do so within the next hour or so. We will see.
The coverage from political conventions is unrelenting, but the day has dawned clear with the sun already well up, and Daze 4 will go forward out into the sage and high altitude, short grass prairie for yet another foray!
