Just read Catching Fire last week, waiting for Mockingjay to come back at the library....
Now you can understand my anti-socialness in Georgia! Read all of book 3 on the way home on Monday!
Ah, would totally offer mine, but I was actually reading a friend's that I have to give back... and maybe it's not bad to have a forced break to come up from air, after all!
And yep, totally understand the nose-to-book Georgia Becky, I totally would have been the same way! =)
Now the question is to bother seeing the films or not - are they as good as the books? Will they just ruin my vision of it all?
Sounds like I'll have to read these.
only one out so far - Hayden & I went to see it on Day 1 in NC. Sticks close to the book, well done in my opinion... rented the dvd to rewatch with rest of family last week after rereading the first book...
We filled 80 seats at the theater on Friday night of Flying Pig weekend last spring, a week after the movie opening, including the entire USMA team. The movie was pretty decent, although one of my juniors (Sam Kelsch), seeing it for his second time, counted fifty-some differences from the book. A few things will be different from your mental image, for example I thought the Peacekeepers in the movie looked a lot more futuristic / high tech than I expected.
The biggest annoyance I find with the books is the geographical inconsistencies. I'd really like to see a map of Panem and there just is not enough good information to make things fit. (Can you tell I'm an orienteer? :-)
Book or movie, I find a few things that just don't seem to make logical sense or internally conflict. But that's a small criticism; they were still enjoyable reads (and I enjoyed the movie).
