Impressive post-Jake return to overnight AR! If not for your issues with CP12, you guys would have been on the podium for sure. It was so hard to watch a group of friends in trouble, knowing you were so close to the CP. (I had a great view of you on the SPOT tracker.) Next time!
P.S. Would it be OK to link your race report to the WT website?
No prob. tweaked it a bit.
Thanks! :) Btw that's funny about the emergency blankets - so true. We had to use our blankets twice at APEX in Switzerland. Luckily, I'd brought a good one because we were in the Alps but I discovered that it was the absolute minimum for a situation where I really needed to keep warm. I always carry a big sturdy one when we go course testing for WT.
Good job
... I had that happen once with the emerg blankets... hard to describe the feeling of peeling apart strips of crinkling, splotchy silverish pieces of plastic film with trembling fingers, while your whole body is shaking violently.. and then holding it out and looking at a cross between a chineese paper lantern and an origami puzzle and thinking "I will surely die this night"
.. it may have happened more than once, but I would never admit it in an open forum :-)
Laughing hysterically here... :D
Great job Dee. At the canoe pickup, I didn't realize it was you guys who had to come back twice - I was like this team is off to a great start!!! I have to tell you out of the top 5 teams that rolled into my TA [cp7/TA2] you guys were the most relaxed ones and still smiling! I was certain that pentathlon has two teams to worry about for rest of the race. You guys did very well in the end!
That's a bang-on description Dave!
Congrats on your race!!!! Great report!
Oh FB! You'd think you'd learn after the first time. :-)
Great job Dee!
