Discussion: It's still a good result.

~30-40secs off a perfect race is not bad, and so is a top 15, don't think any Irish guy has ever been in the top 15 before, in any EYOC race (I could be wrong). It's OK to look at your mistakes and reflect, and even be disappointed. But you've got to take the positives too. Your speed is really good and it's a solid result, you set a really high aim for yourself, and you were still close to it.
Well done by the way man!

I know it's a decent result but it wasn't what I was looking for. I knew my shape was way better than a top 15 and I just let myself down. My race was good except for the two at the start and I know that but I'm unhappy that I didn't capitalise on my hard training through the year. It's a solid base result for which to improve on in the future and that's what I'm looking to at the moment.
Anyway, good luck at JWOC!

Gotta agree with colm, i think you're being a bit overly negative, look at this as a stepping stone rather than being too disappointed, it's alright to use some of it as motivation though.

I've gotten over my disappointment by now and am looking at the positives. I now know that I can compete at the highest level for juniors in orienteering and with a bit more technical training and some more experience my international results will be exactly as I want them to be. Hopefully the coming year will be able to do some of that.
