EMPO thanks vmeyer for hosting the Billygoat Routegadget on her Routegadget site.

[I see that it's already linked on World of O, as well! is that automatic, Valerie?]

Automatic? Not anything I did that I know of. :)

They must be watching you!

When I logged in to "tweet" on OUSA about the WMOC registration deadline on May 10, the World of O tweet about the routegadget map was there. [They will remove maps by request.]

Automatic. Vmeyer's site is polled by my site and Jan's server s polling my site. Takes about 3 hours.

Did those of you with gps tracks find that they loaded with little adjustment required?

ndobbs:
I didn't adjust mine at all. I don't know how you did that, but I approve. I had to do more work on the QR.

Thanks, Neil, good to hear. There is an option in RG to georeference the map. I think some people make this out to be harder then it really is, saying that going through an expensive program like ArcMap is the way to go. Me? I went with the quick and dirty method of stealing someone's (PG) GPX from AP and calibrating the three allowed points. It looked pretty good to me, but I was wondering how subsequent uploads would go.

PG:
Me too, didn't make a single adjustment. Though one is needed (either to my route or to the map), coming by the finish the first time it is off. The rest is spot on. Very cool.

Since she georeferenced it to your track, it shouldn't be a surprise that yours works, PG. :-)

PG:
I was thinking that might be the case, but at this point in my life, something that works well should not be taken for granted. :-)

OK, so what's the easiest way to get tracks from a 305 to RouteGadget? I'm spoiled and only have Attackpoint read directly from my device, usually.

vmeyer:
Well, probably the easiest way is for me to upload it for you. ;)

What I would do is click on your AP globe for the event and select the gpx link available and save the tracks.

Then go to RG and in the upper right hand area pick GPS or whatever is there (doing this from memory). Select GPX and browse to saved file.

Back on main screen, tracks should be on map. Select your name and save.

You probably know this already, but in case others were wondering, those are the basics.

Valerie made it easy for you.

On other less georecerenced maps, sometimes you have to zoom out and move several track points to line things up, which can be tricky.

If this is in any way a reference to what I was saying before, no. My concern is the other way round. What we have is a bunch of maps that are already georeferenced to the best level of accuracy possible (the georef is in the OCAD file), and I was wondering if Jagge would include in a future version of RG the ability to inherit this reference from the OCAD file, or perhaps from an exported GeoTIFF, and skip the three-point adjustment. This way RG becomes insensitive to the particular level of accuracy of the particular GPS track that is used to three-point-adjust.

vmeyer:
Nope, not a reference to that thread, Vladimir. Just commenting on the option some are taking to include georeferencing. Where it would be nice to have it more automated within the program, it can also be accomplished very simply from tracks from the race or ones created in gmap pedometer or whatever in the meantime.

Thanks for the brief tutorial, Valerie. I would have had no idea how to add my track.
