Bob Miller (Getawaystix) and the Wilderness Traverse race organization are presenting adventure racing and wilderness navigation clinics this spring at Running Free Milton and Running Free Markham.

1) Taking it To The Next Level – Overnight and Expedition Length Adventure Racing

This free 2-hour clinic is for anyone interested in learning more about overnight adventure racing, or for those looking for advice on how to improve. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions, discussion and sharing of ideas. In the past, this clinic has attracted a mix of novice and experienced racers.

2) Navigation Seminar

This 3-hour in-class seminar has been designed to teach the fundamentals of wilderness navigation by map and compass.

3) Navigation Field Course

The field course will run for 3 hours and will traverse a mock trekking section from an adventure race.

The navigation courses are $50 each - free for registered 2012 Wilderness Traverse racers. There are further details on the web page if you're interested in learning more. Hope to see you there!

The Wilderness Traverse AR clinics are coming up on Mon. May 14 at Running Free Milton and Thurs. May 17 at Running Free Markham, both 6-8 p.m. Bob kicks it off with a prepared presentation and shares some of his AR secrets, then the rest of the time is open for discussion and questions. It's a great chance to share ideas with other racers, novice and more experienced. And you can shop too!

Details are on our web page. It's free - just let Bob know you're coming (Bob AT WildernessTraverse DOT ca).

Lots of interest in next week's Wilderness Traverse overnight AR clinics but there's always room for more people who want to spend an evening sharing their AR addiction with like-minded people. Free to all - just let Bob know you're coming.

Thanks for the reminder Bash. I am away next week but had hoped to participate. There is a chance I am back for the Thursday night clinic in Markham but may try to squeeze in one of the others later in the month.

Are you doing WT this year, Chief? It would be great to have you back. You have unfinished business!

Chief:
Oh yeah. I will be there. I do not like unfinished businesses!!! :)

Mr Wonderful:
WT is getting really tempting as the local 28 hr race hovers around a third of the minimum to avoid cancellation with just eight weeks until the go/no go decision.

That's too bad - you have some great races in Michigan. On the other hand, maybe it's time to explore some new terrain? ;) In case anyone is wondering, Wilderness Traverse is guaranteed to go on Aug. 18-19; we already have enough teams signed up.

P.S. Early reg deadline is this Tuesday, May 15.
