Who else is on the van trip with you? How did everyone else do? What was the map and woods like...better than Hueston Woods? Good luck running against Glen today!
I used to live in Cincinnati. Loved the mix of north and south cultures. And spent a lot of time canoeing and hiking in Kentucky. Are you going to find a Buffalo Wild Wings and play group Jeopardy again?
that was close, really close. go get em!
The usual, rich, Lenny, kb, plus some newbies, who are having a blast. I lost 4 min. To Tryson, I made 3 mistakes on the course. We had 17 people at dinner tonight and it was a blast.
That doesn't appear to be a very nice area...too much green and too many trails; hardly worth driving from Wisconsin to run. Looks like all those pits hidden in the green were your problem. And perhaps a 1:7500 map scale? Were you over-running controls? #10 + #12 (both pits) you lost 6 minutes to Tryson. Too bad.
Still it was a fast run for the most part...you beat Jim Gordon and all the women on Green by a healthy margin. Nice going. Tell Rich to pick it up...Neuberger beat him by 10 minutes, and Rich is a better navigator.
Good luck today. It is raining here, and I'm off on the el to the Oak Park 5k.
Map scale switched to 1:5000 - clearly announced at Start line. It was weird doing a Middle on 1:5000. It was much easier reading the detail but things sure came up fast. With fewer extraneous deer trails (but lots of elephant tracks for late starters), trails were more reliable Saturday.
I feel the areas were good orienteering terrain. The 1:5000 scale was nice, but like Rick said things came up quick.
Yes the pit on 10 and the control on 12 and 14 were bad for me as I lost a ton of time on them. I did make it up on Sunday :-)
