13k and only 17 CPs. Sounds like lots of running. Wish I had been able to make it.

Yeah, there weren't really many short legs, which made for some good route choice options. I think the road was the way to go on the really long one.

I went straight on the long leg, but I also think the road was faster. My finish was the same as yours, through #1. I slipped in that reentrant below #1 and got the map and compass thoroughly caked with mud - had to rinse it in the stream on the approach to #11. That leg was awesome. We rarely get 2km legs with reasonable route choice at local races.

I saw Victor Lin coming back to the road on my way in to 10, so I knew he was running the road route while I was going straight. Saw him above me between 1 and 11 (going in) as I was leaving 11, so he made pretty good time on the road route.

Lots of bumbling errors for me early on, and an especially ugly parallel error leaving 9. I was correctly thinking "left fork," but I ran more south than intended and hit the reentrant above that fork. Took the next left fork upstream instead and so was in the wrong one when I hit the road. Had that "this doesn't make sense" feeling just before hitting the road. I tried to confirm at the road, but the curve left that I could see was the wrong one and I doubled my parallel errorness. Finally corrected when I hit the stream on the other side. "Stream! Why is there a stream here?" :)
