I notice in Eddie's comments, he attributes JT's relative speed in the drink split to being Canadian. I just wonder whether that margin would be larger or smaller if the brand of beer is varied... who would win with the Beast? With Colt 45? If we reorganize another chase with 40s (or 45s) the drink du jour, I'll take on all you guys!

Over the past few years the size of the cups of beer has been getting smaller and smaller. I think Valerie had the right idea drinking twice each time through. The all-time best year that I can remember was the VFW at Prince William where we had HUGE styro-foam cups full to the top. That was the slowest start I can remember, and still Ted Good (normally doesn't drink beer) was fastest off the line. Apparently there were complaints about the size that year, but still, if the ammount becomes inconsequential its not so much a beer chase as an O race with a refreshing treat after each loop. I'm a lightweight and I haven't really felt much beer-effect the past couple of years other than more belching on course.

Personally I think the order of the loops should be reversed, so that the easy sprint loop is first and the orienteering becomes more and more difficult as your capacities are reduced. If ever there was a good application of trail/micro-O its when you are already seeing double. I wonder if the IOF would consider adding an "Intoxicated" category to trail-O?

Well, hopefully they still are providing good beer and not Coor's Light or its ilk.
