What do you use? I've used the Active Ankle for the past 5 years or so - only during periods when my ankle is gimpy. Charlotte McN. recommended the PSB brace from the U.K. and it arrived last week. Although I've always been content with the Active Ankle, it does bruise the inside of my ankle bone in long runs, so I risked the new brace in RTH. It worked pretty well and was a lot smaller. Looks like it may have caused a blister on top of my foot where the leg meets it but I didn't feel it on the race course - and it could have been a piece of grit too. A piece of Leukotape would have solved that. Overall, I was pleased with it.

I just used an oversized soft, white, elastic ankle support yesterday. I have neoprene and hard supports but they are too hard on the leg and skin for long distance O-races. I have twisted my ankle badly playing short stop in baseball and using a lace up ankle soft support works great. I tried that for a long run but the soft elastic style worked best.
However, I have not actually got an ankle problem but likely a bruised foot. I contort my ankle to save the foot and it gets weak as a result. I did a long run with a pair of shoes well over 200 miles (shoes rarely make 200 miles with my style and knees) and my right foot got sore half way through. I finished but limped home. After rest, I ran a 10 k trail race the next week, beat my time last year by 2:00 but could not walk well on my right foot after for 2 days. Again after resting it, I found a soft ankle support helped to get in long runs. I did not do enough runs before the Raid and came up limp in the P2P so ran at a pace to save my foot & ankle yesterday. That worked as everything is sore but not injured today. Good luck keeping your ankle healthy.

Interesting. After messing up my ankle ligaments enough times, it has become a foot problem in this round - also a hip problem and a little bit of a knee problem. It's so hard to do the crazy stuff we do without our bodies rebelling a little!
