and try to think about your orienteering PROCESS for the first couple of controls and how it might have been different than the rest of the course. This is difficult but you did very well for several of the controls and not so well on others so if you can put your finger on what you might have been doing different, then hopefully you can apply the good processes in the future.

Normally, the best results are when you concentrate intently on what you are doing and most of that involves looking at the map to see routes, beacons or waypoints you will see along the way, attackpoints, catching features, visualizing the terrain, checking compass, etc. When you just head in the general direction of the next control hoping for a good result, well, that's when trouble happens.

Another thing---looking at the splits for your best controls on Sat. (1-2 and 10-12), your min/K times are almost too fast suggesting that maybe you should actually go at a slightly slower pace but read the map more.
