I bought a Miele vacuum cleaner several years ago for over $1000. It's a complete piece of crap. My ex-wife convinced me that Miele makes the best-engineered consumer appliances, but I am extremely uninpressed and was totally ripped-off. Thanks for the Oreck review

I'll try to remember to throw it in the car for Stonybrook.

My mom's husband sold Kilby's in the late 50s and early 60s. I always used this old (I thought crappy) upright vacuum at their house, and then one day he's pulling parts off it and converting it to a cannister-type with a flexible hose, and he tells me it's like 35 years old and it works as well as the day he bought it. We had a Kirby guy come to our house about 15 years ago and do a 2.5 hour demo---They were $1400. No sale, but it was really impressive.

Reviews at the Costco website They seem to be all 1s or 5s, with very few in the middle. (You might have to click on "reviews")

I had to leave to help my niece on Sunday, so I got back just as you were driving away. On Sunday, I learned Brian DeYoung has a Dyson, and he loves it. I'm hoping to go see it next time we have an ARDF build night.
